Alliance Staff

The ABCS staff are responsible for the logistical support of elected board members and officers. Staff assist in the research efforts, organization of events, and facilitation of media relations.

Heather middlemass - communications and administrative coordiNator

The communications coordinator is responsible for the official correspondence of the Alliance. They manage the social media accounts of the ABCS, provide general coordination in consultation with the chair, and perform a range of administrative duties.

Heather graduated from the University of Victoria with a major in political science. She joined the Alliance staff in 2017 after serving the student movement during her undergrad. She brings a wealth of passion and experience surrounding student issues to her position.

NICKI SIMPSON - policy analyst (volunteer)

The volunteer staff come together from across the Alliance’s member student societies at the request of the board, officers, and staff to provide logistical support, assist in research, and event planning, amongst other things. The policy analyst keeps the board informed regarding government operations, both provincial and federal, that affect students. 

Nicki brings a breadth of student government experience, with a dedication to volunteer work and passion for student issues and rights. She enjoys watching too much Netflix and adventuring in the forrest. Nicki currently serves as the Policy and Political Affairs Coordinator at Kwantlen Student Association .

christopher girodat - secretary to the board (volunteer)

The volunteer staff come together from across the Alliance’s member student societies at the request of the board, officers, and staff to provide logistical support, assist in research, and event planning, amongst other things. The secretary to the board has a focus on providing procedural and secretarial support, and for assisting with the fulfillment of the Alliance’s statutory obligations as a non-profit.

With a wealth of experience in management, non-profit administration, and board governance, Chris is a self-styled political geek and governance junkie. He enjoys watching CPAC, reading Robert’s Rules, and drafting bylaws. He has also served as the executive director of the Capilano Students’ Union since 2013.

Patrick meehan - research advisor (volunteer)

The volunteer staff come together from across the Alliance’s member student societies at the request of the board, officers, and staff to provide logistical support, assist in research, and event planning, amongst other things. The research advisor helps compile data relevant to students for use in our lobbying and research documents.

Patrick has been a part of multiple students organizations. He currently is at the Capilano Students' Union's organizer.
