Introducing our Officers
The Officers are responsible for supporting the strategic direction of the organization and overseeing the operations of the ABCS. They support the work of our members and ensure student voices are represented in the halls of power in BC. The Chairperson is the key spokesperson for the ABCS and represents the organization as its main spokesperson.
Kevin Root, (he/him)
Chairperson
Kevin Root was elected as Chairperson of the
Alliance of BC Students in Fall 2025. He previously served on the Alliance’s Board of Directors from 2023-2024 and again in 2025. Kevin is a graduate student at Royal Roads University pursuing an M.Sc. in Environmental Management, and serves as the President of the Royal Roads University Student Association.
Kevin brings years of experience in administration and management from the construction industry, where he is a project manager. He is pursuing a degree in environmental management to help the construction industry pivot to more sustainable practices.

The work of the ABCS is governed by a board of directors, made up of student leaders from each of our member associations. The board approves the strategic plan, the budget, our advocacy campaigns, and they provide oversight for the work of our executive team.
